Formula Student – Construction of a single-seat racing car by students of the University of Applied Sciences Graz. . Formula Student is an unofficial world championship for young engineers that is very well respected within scientific circles. Approximately 4,000 students from England, Germany, Italy, Japan, North America, South America and Australia compete.
Each team builds a prototype of a single-seat racing car and develops a concept how four such vehicles could be manufactured per day. Formula Student is thus the European response to the American Formula SAE™, which has taken place in the U.S. since 1976.
We have been supporting the ‘Joanneum Racing Team’ that forms part of the vehicle technology course at University of Applied Sciences Graz since 2009 by supplying the students with titanium for their wheel hubs. The team performed excellently at their very first attempt at Formula Student.

This competition took place in Europe for the first time in the year 2000 with the first event being held in England. Italy followed in 2005 and the first competition in Germany took place in 2006.

This is how the students won the presentation competition in England competing against another eight international teams.
